Schwerdtfeger Library News - September 2004By Jean Phillips, Librarian The Schwerdtfeger Library announces the following workshops during the month of October. Staff and students are invited to attend: Research Databases in the Atmospheric Sciences The UW-Madison libraries subscribe to the primary research databases for the atmospheric and related sciences. Web searching will typically not yield the journal articles you seek because this material is indexed by and found primarily in proprietary databases. The workshop will introduce you to databases specific to your discipline, define what they contain and do not contain, teach you how to search them effectively and locate articles of interest. We'll also review some important features of MadCat.
RefWorks: Bibliographic Database Manager This workshop will cover the basic features of RefWorks, including organization of records, searching and sorting records, importing records electronically from various databases, formatting records for bibliographies, sharing databases.
